Chemical-Resistant Resin Flooring for Orkney Facility
The Challenge
A water-testing facility on the island of Flotta in Orkney required its production floor to be refurbished. The remote location meant that labour and materials had to be transported from the mainland, so accurate specification and careful planning were essential. The facility required a reliable, hard-wearing floor that would provide slip resistance and remain easy to maintain within a busy production environment. With limited opportunities to resolve unexpected issues after work began, the products, preparation and application method all needed to be established in advance.
The Solution
Working with the appointed contractor, Resin Building Products specified a system comprising Resbuild WB Primer and Resbuild Ultracoat. An emery aggregate was incorporated to improve toughness and slip resistance. The completed floor provided a hard-wearing, easy-to-maintain finish with the chemical and slip resistance required for the facility’s day-to-day operations. Despite the logistical challenges of the remote location, the project was completed on schedule and delivered a safe, professional production environment.
