The Challenge

Our specialist contractor was tasked with installing a slip-resistant resin flooring system at Chancery Lane Underground Station, one of London's busy transport hubs. With large volumes of daily pedestrian traffic, the project required a flooring solution that could be installed efficiently while allowing the area to return to service as quickly as possible, helping to minimise disruption for both the client and the travelling public. In addition to rapid curing, the selected flooring system also needed to comply with the stringent performance requirements associated with London Underground installations. This included achieving Section 12 approval for both reaction to fire and slip resistance, ensuring the finished floor delivered long-term safety, durability and compliance in a demanding public environment.

The Solution

To meet these requirements, Resbuild MMA Smoothscreed FR was specified as the preferred flooring system. Combining an MMA primer, self-smoothing screed, aggregate broadcast and sealer, the system provided a seamless, slip-resistant surface capable of withstanding the constant demands of a high-traffic underground station. The fast-curing properties of the MMA system helped significantly reduce installation time, allowing the flooring to be returned to service quickly and helping minimise operational downtime. Alongside its rapid installation benefits, the finished surface offered excellent durability, chemical resistance and a clean, easily maintained finish suitable for a busy transport environment. By selecting a flooring system designed specifically for demanding public infrastructure projects, the contractor was able to deliver a compliant, high-quality installation that met the client's performance requirements while helping keep disruption to a minimum throughout the works.
