MMA Flooring at Chancery Lane Underground Station
The Challenge
A specialist contractor was tasked with installing slip-resistant flooring at Chancery Lane Underground Station, one of London’s busiest transport environments. With high volumes of daily pedestrian traffic, the flooring needed to be installed efficiently and returned to service quickly to minimise disruption. The selected system also needed to satisfy the performance requirements associated with London Underground installations. This included the relevant Section 12 fire-safety requirements and specified slip-resistance criteria, ensuring the finished floor would provide long-term safety and durability in a demanding public environment.
The Solution
Resbuild MMA Smoothscreed FR was specified to meet the project requirements. The complete system incorporated an MMA primer, self-smoothing screed, aggregate broadcast and sealer to create a seamless, slip-resistant surface suitable for heavy pedestrian traffic. Its fast-curing properties reduced installation time and allowed the area to return to service quickly. The completed floor provided a durable, easy-to-maintain finish that met the performance requirements of the station while keeping operational disruption to a minimum.
