Applied Flooring's New Floor Coating
The Challenge
A mezzanine floor within a major UK retailer’s distribution centre was undergoing refurbishment as part of a wider site upgrade. The existing floor coating had significantly deteriorated over time and was no longer providing adequate protection to the mezzanine boards. As the site remained operational, the project required careful coordination between the client, their appointed industrial painting contractors, and the materials supplier to ensure the existing coating could be removed and replaced efficiently. Due to the scale and nature of the facility, materials needed to be supplied on a just-in-time basis to avoid delays to the refurbishment programme. In addition, standard high-build coatings were unsuitable, as they may not accommodate the natural movement associated with mezzanine flooring.
The Solution
Resin Building Products supplied a flexible coating system designed specifically for mezzanine floor applications. Following removal of the existing coating by the industrial painting contractors, a new epoxy floor finish was installed, with Resbuild Deckcoat selected as the topcoat due to its ability to accommodate movement while still delivering a durable, protective surface. The epoxy floor finish system was delivered on a just-in-time basis to support the project schedule and installed successfully, resulting in a clean, refreshed mezzanine floor. The completed epoxy floor finish now provides long-term protection for the mezzanine boards and a professional appearance aligned with the overall refurbishment of the distribution centre.
