Flexible Epoxy Coating for Distribution Centre Mezzanine

The Challenge

A mezzanine floor within a major UK retailer’s distribution centre required refurbishment as part of a wider site upgrade. The existing coating had deteriorated and was no longer providing sufficient protection to the mezzanine boards. Because the distribution centre remained operational, the project required close coordination between the client, Applied Flooring Ltd and Resin Building Products. Materials also needed to be supplied on a just-in-time basis to avoid delays or unnecessary storage on site. A conventional rigid coating was unsuitable because the new system needed to accommodate the natural movement associated with mezzanine flooring while still providing a durable finish.

The Solution

Resin Building Products specified a flexible coating system designed for mezzanine-floor applications. After Applied Flooring Ltd removed the existing coating and prepared the surface, the new system was installed using Resbuild WB Coating and Resbuild Deckcoat. Resbuild Deckcoat was selected as the topcoat because its flexible properties could accommodate movement within the mezzanine boards while providing a durable, protective finish. Materials were delivered on a just-in-time basis to support the refurbishment programme and minimise disruption to the operational facility. The completed floor provided a clean, professional appearance and renewed long-term protection for the mezzanine boards.
